Sonic Visualiser

Tony

Sonic Lineup

Sonic Visualiser

  • Development started late 2006, maintained ever since
  • General-purpose tool to inspect (but not edit) audio, and edit labels and annotations
  • Analysis plugins (Vamp plugin format)
  • See sonicvisualiser.org

Tony

  • Started in 2013
  • Dedicated tool for sung-pitch annotation and note segmentation
  • Uses Matthias Mauch's pYIN pitch-tracking plugin
  • Informed by the work needed in Bittner, Salamon, Tierney, Mauch, Cannam, & Bello, MedleyDB: A Multitrack Dataset for Annotation-Intensive MIR Research and Mauch, Frieler, & Dixon Intonation in unaccompanied singing: Accuracy, drift, and a model of reference pitch memory
  • (Despite relatively good results with Tony, all manual annotation was still dropped from MedleyDB 2.0 as too labour-intensive)
  • See Tony project page

Sonic Lineup

  • In "experimental mode" since 2007 - has had three different names - first test release last Friday, still unannounced!
  • Tool for comparative visualisation of multiple related recordings at once
  • No editing or annotation capabilities - no "document" or "session"
  • Feedback wanted!
  • See this project page (currently)
