Description
I just re-read the old issue #1031 "efficiency of FlexiNoteLayer?" and discovered that the FlexiNoteLayer was supposed to calculate a numbering across all notes during repaint and display this by each note. I broke this completely in v2.1 when updating the event lookup so as to look up only those notes within the paint region. Hadn't even realised it was supposed to do that. Now it just shows the number of each note within the current window.
We need a stable numbering for notes!
