'Outside reference' broken; can't play or submit

Description
E.g. in the example project, I can't get the test to play the outside reference, nor click submit to proceed to the post-test survey.
Console says 'Cannot read property 'buffer' of undefined'.
Works if the sample is removed with everything else the same.
Also works if same sample is included, but not as an outside reference.

Audio Elements as outside reference are now treated as normal items all the way until being generated by the interface which has to determine what to do with them.
